On Wednesday 13 May 2026, the Global Community Food & Health (Global CFaH) Project hosted a Community Showcase at the Layou Resource Centre in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The event brought together researchers, community members, backyard farmers, educators and public health stakeholders to celebrate four years of collaborative work strengthening local food systems and nutrition resilience.
The showcase featured:
Throughout the event, attendees heard directly from project researchers and participating community members about the practical realities of improving household nutrition through backyard gardening, small-scale food production and community-led food systems approaches. The programme included presentations from the Global CFaH Caribbean research team, Richmond Vale Academy and community participants, alongside a panel discussion exploring lessons learned, challenges and opportunities for strengthening sustainable food systems in small island states.
A major highlight of the event was the celebration of local farmers and participants whose work demonstrated how community-driven food production can contribute to healthier diets, household resilience and stronger local food economies.
As the Global CFaH project enters its final stage of implementation, the Community Showcase served as both a dissemination event and a celebration of the partnerships, knowledge exchange and community leadership that have shaped the project’s work across the Caribbean and Pacific regions.
We extend sincere thanks to all participating community members, researchers, partners, stakeholders and supporters who continue to make this work possible.
