Global CFaH

The second issue of the Global CFaH Project Newsletter is here!

This edition brings together updates and insights from across all project countries Fiji, Palawan (Philippines), St Lucia, and St Vincent and the Grenadines highlighting how community-led approaches are strengthening food systems, improving diets, and supporting planetary health.

Additionally, it captures key moments of regional and global engagement, including participation in the CARPHA conference and the completion of activities under the NIHR Global Health Research Cohort Academic Development Award (CADA), which supported systems thinking, collaborative learning, and research capacity strengthening across Global CFaH and COHESION-I.

What’s inside this edition?

  • Updates from across all four project settings: Fiji, Palawan (Philippines), St Lucia, and St Vincent and the Grenadines
  • Highlights from the NIHR Global Health Research Cohort Academic Development Award (CADA) and cross-country systems thinking activities
  • Community-led interventions supporting food production, nutrition, and local knowledge sharing
  • Youth and community engagement in Palawan, including storytelling and participatory activities
  • Practical tools for healthier diets, including recipe cards developed in St Lucia
  • Follow-up research underway in Fiji to assess changes in diets, food security, and household food production
  • Project visibility on regional and international platforms, including the UK Parliament and the upcoming CARPHA conference

Across all project settings, a clear thread is emerging: lasting change happens when research is grounded in community realities and translated into practical, locally led action.

From backyard food production and nutrition-focused resources to youth engagement and cross-country knowledge exchange, Global CFaH continues to demonstrate how evidence can move beyond analysis and into everyday practice. At the same time, growing visibility at regional and global platforms, including the UK Parliament and the CARPHA conference, is helping to bring these community-rooted insights into wider policy and public health conversations.

As the project moves further into its final phase, the focus is increasingly on strengthening these connections between research, community, and long-term impact, ensuring that the knowledge, tools, and approaches developed continue to support healthier, more resilient food systems beyond the life of the project.
